About the university

The University of Hertfordshire is an ambitious and entrepreneurial university and was recently awarded the prestigious Times Higher Education ‘Entrepreneurial University of the Year’ award. It offers excellence in teaching, learning and research, and puts students at the heart of its activities. It is a model for a 21stcentury university – international, business-facing and business-like in approach, making it distinctive in an ever-changing higher education environment.

The University has a strong international outlook, welcoming more than 2,000 overseas students from 85 different countries each year. Join us and you’ll be a valued member of our truly global campus community. We will do everything we can to help you make the most of your studies and enjoy all that university life has to offer.

The University has the perfect location, just 25 minutes by train from London in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. Its two well equipped campuses in Hatfield (College Lane and De Havilland) are safe, attractive places to live and study, where you will find everything you need.
We offer a huge range of courses across our Schools of study. Subject areas include Art and Design, Film, Music and Media, Business, Computer Science and Engineering, Physics, Astronomy and Maths, Humanities, Law and Education, Biological and Life Sciences and Health. We also provide preparation and foundation programmes and English language support.

Consistently high-quality teaching and learning at the University is a key factor in our graduates’ academic and career success. You’ll be taught by staff at the top of their subjects. Many work as well as teach in their specialist fields and have international experience. Since the introduction of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme in 2000, eight of our teachers have won Fellowships for their outstanding contribution to learning and teaching.
